The youth pathway welcomes every young rider, whatever their background or starting point. It supports participation, personal growth, and progress from complete beginner to personal best — recreational, community, or competitive.

How young riders develop

Skills in order

Balance, then agility, then speed, then tactics — the progression Cycling Canada's development models are built on.

Games that teach

Chariot races, slow races, elimination — kids build real track craft without noticing they're training.

Grouped by age & stage

Riders train with their peers, and coaches meet each rider where they are.

A pathway with no ceiling

School trip to track school to racing to the Academy — as far as they want to take it.

A quick note for parents

To join, a young rider should be able to pedal comfortably for about 15 minutes and be roughly 140 cm tall. We provide rental track bikes and Lazer helmets, and coaches are on the track throughout.
