How to upgrade
Getting your first category
To go from novice to Category 4, complete a Learn to Race clinic and finish at least 3 race starts. That's your entry into league racing.
Moving up from there
Upgrades from Category 4 to 3 (and beyond) are earned on results — typically by accumulating around 20 upgrade points. [TBD: confirm the exact points table used for the 2026 season.]
Categories and upgrades follow the Alberta Bicycle Association (Cycling Alberta) track upgrade policy: track ability categories A, B, and C map to road categories, with upgrades earned through Alberta Cup points or by written application to the Racing Committee.
