Board & governance.

The Alberta Velodrome Association (AVA) is a community non-profit, governed by a volunteer board of directors elected by its members.

The board's job is to keep a young organization steady while it grows into a very large new building. Directors oversee finances, policy and planning, and support the staff and coaches who run the track day to day — so that the velodrome stays open, safe and affordable to use.

Much of that work happens in partnership. The Association works alongside the City of Edmonton, provincial and federal partners, and the provincial and national cycling bodies whose athletes, officials and programs the track serves. Those relationships are what turn a building into a working velodrome, and maintaining them is a standing part of the board's role.
