The Alberta Velodrome sits inside the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre — a $153-million City of Edmonton facility that opened in January 2026. The track is ours. The rest of the building belongs to everyone.
That matters when only one person in the family rides. While a rider is on the boards, everybody else has a 50-metre pool, an indoor running track, a fitness centre, a bouldering wall and an indoor playground within a few steps of the rail — so nobody is sitting in a car park for two hours.

50 m pool, 8 lanes
The Peter Hemingway Aquatic Centre, rebuilt into the new building — lane swimming plus a hot tub, sauna and steam room.
Edmonton's first cold plunge
In the aquatic centre — a novelty in this city, and the best thing here after a hard session.
333 m running track
An indoor walking and running track that rings the velodrome one level up. No ice, no wind, no traffic lights.
Fitness centre & studios
Weights and cardio, plus two training studios — one of them a spin studio.
Bouldering wall
Climbing for all abilities, a floor away from the track.
Courts
Two full-size courts sit inside the velodrome oval, with an urban court for drop-in play alongside.
Indoor playground
Somewhere for smaller kids to spend a morning — with child minding available in the building.
Coffee
A Second Cup on site, for the parents who would rather watch with something hot.
How access works
- The Centre is operated by the City of Edmonton. The pool, fitness centre, running track, climbing wall and playground are City amenities — you get in on a drop-in admission or a City membership.
- The velodrome is run by the Alberta Velodrome Association. Riding on the boards is booked through us, and needs certification first — a City pass does not include track time.
- The Canadian Sport Institute has an office in the building.
